Derwent Patent Index (Subscription)

Every patent record is abstracted and indexed, making it easier to search all of the 15 million patents in this database. Contains patents from over 41 patent issuing authorities world-wide.
Google Patents
From: Google
Generally complete from 1790- present, although new patents are sometimes added sporadically. Can search by title and inventory name back to 1790, although some patents are not fully indexed. Search interface is excellent (better than the USPTO website), but large results list are limited to 600 patents.

Stanford Litigation IP Clearinghouse

A comprehensive online information source on IP litigation. Freely available after registering. Requires a valid e-mail address.

Free federated search portal containing the electronic libraries of thirteen leading science and technology societies. Includes 150 years of peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings. Offers full-text articles searchable by article title or author name. Also offers a pay-per-view option for researchers at institutions who do not subscribe to the content. Patent researchers can use a keyword search to locate patents on Esp@cenet, the Japan Patent Office, and the USPTO.

Features full-text cross collection searching of US and European patents as well as Japanese patents and Patent Cooperation Treaties (PCT). USPTO Patent Search

A search engine hosted by the USPTO provides full text and full page images of patents from 1790-current. Note that pre-1976 patents can only be searched by issue date, patent number, and class code.
U.S. Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)
This page is the starting point for the USPTO's trademark information. Click on "Search" under "Get a Trademark Registration..." or visit the USPTO's Trademark Electronic Business Center (EBC). The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office TESS database contains more than 2.9 million pending, registered and dead federal trademarks. Updates scheduled daily on Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Trademark Applications and Registrations Retrieval (TARR) Database
The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office TARR database lists current status information about pending and registered trademarks. Search by trademark serial number or registration number. Trademark records in TESS provide links to the status information displayed in TARR.
