The State of Maryland has many resources that foster the growth of its life sciences sector. These resources have spurred the successful development of Maryland's bioscience industry and include more than 400 companies, renowned academic institutions and federal research facilities and a highly trained workforce.
One key mission of the Center is to encourage increased interactions among our bioscience stakeholders, creating a more entrepreneurial culture that will help stimulate the translation of R&D to commercial products.
To facilitate the translational research process, the Center has funds to support the development or expansion of resources that can be shared among private bioscience companies and academic or non-profit research facilities. Stimulating increased interactions between Maryland companies and our world renowned academic research programs will promote bioscience commercialization.
Institutional grants will be targeted to enhancing the capabilities in shared facilities that lead to the development of products or services by Maryland's bioindustry, typically accomplished through collaboration or under contractual terms.
