Biotechnology Training Categories 

Laboratory Skills & Techniques 

These courses will introduce the student to the skills and techniques needed to work in the laboratory.

Main courses offered by our
training partners include:

  • Good Laboratory Practices: Courses offer introductions to the principles of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).  These courses may also include some practical experience in a GLP setting.
     
  • Basic Cell Culture: Courses are focused on Cell Culture and Cell Function.  These courses introduce the fundamental methods to grow animal cells in culture and the associated principles of cell structure and function.  These courses typically include preparation and utilization of various culture media, maintenance and propagation of cell lines, cell counting and dilution, staining and quality control. 

  • Instrumentation: These courses introduce core laboratory equipment, measurement and calibration using electronic balances, volumetric apparatus and pH meters.  Chromatography and electrophoresis are methods typically included. 

  • Autoclave Operations: These courses typically focus on the principles and processes related to sterilization, including moist heat sterilization operations.
